Civil Defence

The Taranaki Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Group, made up of the region's three District Councils and the Taranaki Regional Council, has responsibility for civil defence emergency management in the region.

The CDEM Group's responsibilities include planning and preparing for a whole range of emergencies in the region, and co-ordinating risk-reduction, readiness, response and recovery.

The Taranaki Civil Defence Emegency Management Group is administered by the Taranaki Regional Council.

The Taranaki Regional Council also responds to pollution incidents including oil spills.

Community meetings on South Taranaki storm event

Taranaki Civil Defence Emergency Management seeks your feedback on issues relating to the storm that took place on 3 March 2012.

This is an opportunity to reflect on the storm, share experiences and discuss the future.

Meetings will take place at:

  • Waverley Community Centre, 5.30pm, Tuesday 22 May

  • Patea Old Folks Hall, 5.30pm. Tuesday 29 May
