The Council plays a key role in regional transport, both in service delivery and in planning and advocacy.
Regional Land Transport Plan 2021-2027
This Plan, adopted in June 2021, sets out Taranaki's strategic direction, priorities and proposed land transport activities for the six years to 30 June 2027, giving approved organisations and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency a platform from which to bid for National Land Transport Fund allocations. It includes the region’s long-term land transport aims, the immediate priorities for the roading network, the best ways to meet a raft of new challenges, and the development of bike trails.
