Pest animal & pest plant strategies

These strategies provide the framework for the Council's management of what are significant threats to agriculture, animal and human health, and natural ecosystems. The strategies are currently under review.

Pest Management Strategy for Taranaki: Animals

The Pest Management Strategy for Taranaki: Animals (adopted in 2006) covers the entire Taranaki region, apart from land administered by the Crown. The strategy declares 23 animal pests in Taranaki.

The Pest Management Strategy for Taranaki: Plants (also adopted in 2006) Plants identifies 27 pest plant species. At least 19 of these are a threat to biodiversity.
