Rain fell on just three to 10 days at our monitored sites in February, with only one site exceeding its average for the month - but only barely, and thanks to a thunderstorm late in the month.
Across all sites, February rainfall ranged from 17% to 102% of normal, with the average being 48%. The Waitotara Valley recorded just 14mm (17%), while Mangati (Bell Block) recorded 77.6mm (102%), with 20.4mm of this arriving during in a thunderstorm on 24 February.
Year-to-date rainfall is sitting between 29% to 84% of normal, with the average being 53%. Waitotara Valley has received just 47.5mm (29%) in the first two months, and Duffy’s Farm near Whareroa has received 84% of normal, with 104.5mm to date.
