Three of Taranaki’s iconic heritage properties double as outdoor classrooms, with educational activities tailored to their unique history and environment.
The Pukeiti Rainforest School, Tupare Riverside School and Hollard Gardens Woodlands School offer nine to 16 activities ranging from guided walks to animal, bird and river studies in stimulating and natural learning environments.

Teachers should note:
- Bookings should be made months in advance to avoid disappointment. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Kevin Archer on 0800 736 222.
- School visits are held between 10am and 2pm, apart from night-time native fish observations at Pukeiti Rainforest School, which take place between 5pm and 9pm.
- Suggested lesson times are approximate and can be adjusted. Morning tea and lunch breaks should be factored in. Visitors need to provide their own morning tea and lunch.
- Risk Analysis Management (RAM) sheets are required in advance by fax or email, and a list of names of students, teachers and other accompanying adults is required at the start of the visit.
