Stratford-Okaukura and Waitara Branches
are located within the Taranaki Region, however only the Marton-New Plymouth Line has
assets that are impacted upon by the Proposed Taranaki Regional Coastal Plan. These
being the track location immediately adjacent to the Patea River estuary, and between
Fitzroy and the Port in New Plymouth itself.

Physically intervening and modifying the flow of a river is reserved for situations outside of the
Egmont National Park boundary, where work can be justified as practical, affordable and

refurbishments, was costed at $36 million. However, the venue would still not be
