The Council has been in a fruitful partnership with Puke Ariki since the Taranaki cultural hub was established in the early 2000s, and in more recent years that support has been extended to Aotea Utanganui Museum of South Taranaki.
Puke Ariki
Funded by the Taranaki Regional Council, Puke Ariki's Taranaki Naturally gallery is a popular family attraction.
The Council is one of Puke Ariki's 'foundation and development partners' with a particular focus on education and environmental projects, including an annual programme of displays and events.
The Taranaki Naturally gallery on Puke Ariki's first floor was originally funded by the Council, and we are now committed to its long-term refurbishment.
Other Puke Ariki projects funded by the Council over the years have ranged from science-based and nature-based exhibitions within the iconic New Plymouth building itself to educational outreach programmes involving schools and communities throughout the region.

Since 2012 the Council and Puke Ariki have worked collaboratively to ensure that Aotea Utanganui Museum of South Taranaki at Pātea receives a share of the Council’s funding support for appropriate exhibitions and activities.
