EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In response to the application for the renewal of
resource consent #0196-4, Taranaki Regional Council
have requested

Conservation and Rivers Control Council. Today, this
classification system is used by the Taranaki Regional
Council Land Management Department at a farm scale to
assess a variety of land management issues.
A national coverage of Land Resource Inventory
worksheets and supporting documents were prepared

and the use of data from other agencies. The data is

What does it mean?
Protecting
Council undertook a ‘wave survey’ as part of the review. It
allowed the community to tell us which surf breaks are valued,
and why. This information was used to determine the
appropriate level of protection for each break.
In the Proposed Coastal Plan, all surf breaks are protected
through the resource consent process. But the level of
protection will vary. Surf breaks have been classified as either
responsibility for
any use of or reliance on any contents of this report by any person
other than Taranaki Regional Council and shall not be liable to any
person other than Taranaki Regional Council, on any ground, for any
loss, damage or expense arising from such use or reliance.

My principal place of residence is in the New
Plymouth Constituency area.
Thank you for electing me to the TRC in 2016.
I am proud to have been involved in the
achievements of this Regional Council which, I
believe, sets standards envied by counterparts
throughout New Zealand.
Excellent relationships with the rural community have enabled
the Council to protect river quality
and
Sarah Harris (New Plymouth Girls High School)
joined over forty other students in Wellington.
Their experiences were presented to a recent
Taranaki Regional Council meeting. It was
obvious they had a fun filled, inspirational and
enjoyable five days.
It is my guess and indeed my hope that schools
regularly practise earthquake and fire drills as
part of their emergency preparations. Certainly,
in my over thirty years as a practising teacher,
I can recall many
