District and Waiteika Stream catchment. The site is comprised of two QEII covenants (2.57ha & 1.52ha)
which protect remnant patches of semi-coastal forest now rare in Taranaki. Both sites have been
identified as priority representative areas for management in Taranaki (Top 30%) and enhance
connectivity between fragmented indigenous habitats in this area.

working well; thank you for your co-operation.
The Council has just completed its annual
recognition of the special environmental
efforts made by individuals, professional or
community groups, companies, local
authorities and schools. Nine awards were
made this year with three of them going to
schools. Congratulations to the students, the
staff and the school communities of Oakura,
engage in. Observation counts were undertaken at well known
recreational locations to gauge the type and degree of use.
The Taranaki Regional Council is required by the Resource Management Act 1991 to
promote sustainable management of Taranaki’s water resources. The Council is also
required to recognise and provide for the maintenance and enhancement of public
access to rivers, lakes and the coast and to have particular regard to the maintenance
and enhancement of amenity values, which

under an adequate cover layer of clean soil, or, preferably, be disposed of to a landfill or
other licensed facility. It is recommended that a management plan be developed to
