and wealth of Taranaki I would work with the TRC to champion
the investigation, planning, development and promotion of
high temperature refuse incineration at the Port. This is an
effective environmentally friendly solution to eliminate refuse
and generate electricity to support the production of hydrogen
fuel allowing Taranaki to remain the energy capital of New

For thousands of years Pukeiti was unspoiled virgin
rainforest. Most of the Rimu were removed in a decade
during

remained forested while others were used for pasture
or pine plantations. Now, more than 80 years
later, the forest is covering the land once more.
Pukeiti’s Rainforest tracks take you through this
regenerating rainforest with remnant pockets of
mature forest and some ancient rimu trees. There are
spectacular views of the Tasman Sea, the Pouakai and
the Kaitake mountain ranges.
