Our Biosecurity team was on a moth plant
mission after discovering several large plants
in New Plymouth’s eastern suburbs. Moth
plant is a prolific seeder, with each pod
containing thousands of seeds easily spread
by wind. Subsequent inspections and public
tip-offs helped us identify and control more
than 50 infestations. Moth plant is one of
16 pest plants in our Regional Pest

Comments: It is difficult for European councilors to fully understand a Maori cultural
perspective when making submissions and decisions. It will enrich the
tapestry of all of our lives if Maori have an assured voting seat (or more) at
the table so that a Te Ao Maori perspective can be actively advocated a nd
considered.

Zoo
The New Plymouth District Council has
created an Enviro Hub for action and
initiatives. We’re running a student
activity day with a huge range of
activities to make, do, share and take
back to school.
