The Council is developing a new Regional Policy Statement
(RPS) and Natural Resources Plan (NRP) for Taranaki
that will give effect to the NPS-FM. Te Mana o te Wai is a
fundamental concept within the NPS-FM. The Council is
working with iwi to understand the meaning and application
of this concept from a local perspective.

4. Consents and Regulatory Committee Minutes – 30 August 2022

That the Taranaki Regional
Almost 14 years of lobbying by the SH3 Working Group has resulted in a Government allocation of accelerated funding for three major works on the route, including bypasses of Mount Messenger and the Awakino tunnel. The Taranaki Regional Council established the State Highway 3 Working Group in 2002 in response to ongoing concerns about the route security, safety and efficiency of the SH3 between Taranaki and Waikato. The group includes representatives from: Taranaki Regional Council

2.2 Mr S J Ruru, Chief Executive, spoke to the memorandum to seek a decision from the
Council as to whether it wishes to investigate the establishment of an Emergency
Services Fund as proposed by Land Search and Rescue NZ as part of their submission
to the 2021 Long Term Plan.

That the Taranaki Regional Council:
a) receives the Memorandum entitled Emergency Services Grant Fund
b) determines that it does not wish to further investigate the
