This guide, prepared by the Council in 2013, is based on more than 30 years of regulation, and a consistent and integrated approach to regulating petroleum exploration in New Zealand among the various agencies involved. It provides access to a wide range of information on the different operations and processes involved in petroleum exploration, including hydraulic fracturing. It will be useful to other regions and communities where oil and gas exploration becomes established in future.

Rimu pipeline leak 2010: Cause, remediation & learning points

After a leak in a pipeline operated by Origin Energy NZ Ltd into a tributary of the Manawapou River in October 2010, it was agreed with the company that the learning points from the incident would be recorded in this report and shared with the oil and gas industry.
