1991 and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.
Iwi considerations
This memorandum and the associated recommendations are consistent with the Council’s
policy for the development of Māori capacity to contribute to decision-making processes
(schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 2002) as outlined in the adopted long-term plan
and/or annual plan. Similarly, iwi involvement in adopted work programmes has been
recognised in the preparation of this
Local Government Act
2002 requires the Council to set out in its long-term
plan any steps that the Council intends to take to foster
the development of Maori capacity to contribute to the
decision making processes of the Council over the
period covered by the Plan. There are eight recognised
iwi in the region, Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi, Ngati Ruanui,
Ngāruahine, Taranaki Iwi, Te Atiawa, Ngati Mutunga,
Ngati Maru and Ngati Tama.
POLICY DEVELOPMENT
The Council

Integrated Transport Strategy – Public Transport is an integral part of the
process. Looking to create a governance board to include iwi as previously
iwi have had little input in to transport.
RL raised concerns around the ADMS. NZTA sent a request for Local
Authorities to maintain and provide data so NZTA can pass on to a third
party, local authorities will be taking responsibility for the third party who
may be giving out incorrect/not up-to-date data. National Speed
but not restricted to, the Local Government Act 2002, the Resource Management
Act 1991 and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.
