3.4 Letters have been sent to Consent holders with renewals coming up in 2021 to
encourage them to start engaging with iwi now.
3.5 It was noted that the way the outcomes of consultation with iwi is recorded has been
in place for a few years now and it was suggested that it could be time to review that
process to ensure more meaningful information.
3.6 Councillor M Joyce declared an interest in two discharge permit …
intertidal ecological survey memorandum, including statistical analysis and further discussion
of the findings, is available from Council upon request.
2.2.3 Kaimoana surveys
Prior to the establishment of Port Taranaki’s inshore dredge disposal site, there was concern from the
general public and local iwi that sand inundation from the dredging would affect kaimoana gathering from
the local reefs. Sand inundation on rocky reefs can adversely affect animals such as pāua and kina by
reducing
periods; and
e. The monitoring / recording of fish transferred as part of the programme and the
reporting frequency to the Chief Executive.
4. The consent holder shall prepare the management plan in consultation [insert name of iwi
groups] and provide the plan to the Chief Executive for certification within 12 months of the
commencement of this consent. The consent holder shall provide any comments received
from [insert name of iwi groups] to the Chief Executive as part
an emerging ‘Great
Walk’ set to boost the region’s burgeoning reputation as a visitor destination.
The Council is also confident about its plans to build on recent gains in freshwater quality; to develop its
education programme; and to broaden and deepen its relationship with iwi and hapū.
Financially, the impact of our proposals is relatively minor. The Council is proposing an increase of 3.5 percent in
its general rates take for 2018/2019. In the last three years, the average
conditions attached to the permit.
Condition 1 requires the consent holder to map the position of the platform(s) and
provide a copy to the relevant authorities.
Conditions 2, 3 and 5 relate to public access.
Condition 4 requires the consent holder to adopt best practicable option to minimise
effects on the environment.
Conditions 6 and 7 are lapse and review provisions.
Section 14 of the Resource Management Act stipulates that no person may take, use,
dam or divert any water, unless
