That the Taranaki Regional Council:
a) took as read and confirmed the minutes of the Policy and Planning Committee of
the Taranaki Regional Council held at 10.30 on 29 August 2023 at Taranaki
Regional Council 47 Cloten Road Stratford
b) noted the recommendations therein were adopted by the Taranaki
Direct control operations continue to be
undertaken on 'eradication pest plants' as required. The first phase of control operations for Old Mans Beard in the Waingongoro
Stream, from Opunake Road south to Finnerty Road is expected to start in April 2017 and contract work on the Kaupokonui Stream was
completed.Monitoring was undertaken to audit the effects of control. There were no releases of biological agents required this quarter.
Ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of agents
of the
region. The (proposed) Eltham Central landfill site is situated in the Waingongoro catchment
on Rotokare Road approximately two kilometres south of Eltham. This report sets out the
results of the baseline monitoring activities undertaken in the 2014 to 2015 period.
The STDC holds a total of five consents which contain 77 special conditions. These consents
cover all aspects of the construction and operation of the landfill. At present none of the
consents held by STDC in relation
points via road at State Highway 3 to the north
and south, and SH 43 via Whangamomona, with significantly less traffic volume. There is a fourth
minor road travelling east-west via Ohura/Waitaanga.
Railways similarly have only two entry points into the region.
While this makes the number of main entry points on land potentially manageable, the volume of
traffic travelling by SH 3 into the region makes it very challenging in many regards, and not a feasible
