1 Introduction
1.1 Compliance monitoring programme reports and the Resource
Management Act 1991
Introduction
This report is for the period July 2020 to June 2021 by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) on a
combined monitoring programme associated with
That Taranaki Regional Council:
a) takes as read and confirms the minutes of the Operations and Regulatory Committee meeting of the
Taranaki Regional Council held in the Taranaki Regional Council chambers, 47 Cloten Road, Stratford
on 3 September 2024 at 9.00am
b) notes the recommendations therein were adopted by the Taranaki Regional Council on Tuesday 29
September 2024.

The Taranaki Regional Council approved the Regional Air Quality Plan for Taranaki on 28 June 2011 and it
became operative on 25 July 2011.

6. The application meets that standard. The assessment by Taranaki Regional Council
(the Council) officers is that the proposed reduction in bird numbers and allowing
birds access to areas outside the broiler sheds will not increase the nature and scale of
the effects of the current activity.
7. The present consent is for the farming of broilers generally, and is not
spanning more than a
century. The Powerco network spreads across the upper and lower central North Island
servicing over 400,000 consumers. This represents 46% of the gas connections and 16% of the
electricity connections in New Zealand. These consumers are served through Powerco assets
including over 30,000 kilometres of electricity lines and over 6,200 kilometres of gas pipelines.

Resolved
That the Taranaki Regional Council:
receives the minutes of the Consents and Regulatory Committee
June has continued this year’s trend for dryer weather with an average of 108.8mm of rain – 37% less than normal. On average there has been 23% less rain than normal across all rain gauges in the region with the lowest year-to-date rainfall at Waitotara at Hawken Rd with 44% less than normal. June’s figures show there was 57% less rain at Waitotara at Ngutuwera, and 7% more at Motunui M39 at Weston W3. Mean river flows were 34.4% lower than typical values, low flows were 2.8% lower, and high
