Region wins its case
A strong regional push for replacement of the
Normanby overbridge on SH3 has borne fruit,
with work beginning on a two-year project to
realign the highway and build a new underpass
beneath the railway line.
The Taranaki Regional Council and the
Regional Transport Committee have long been
at the forefront of strong community advocacy
for this project. These efforts were
(Kapuni Gas Treatment Plant, KGTP) located on
Palmer Road at Kapuni, in the Kapuni catchment, South Taranaki. This report for the period July 2017 to
June 2018 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the
Council) to assess Vector’s environmental and consent compliance performance during the period under
review. The report also details the results of the monitoring undertaken and assesses the environmental

STDC holds one resource consent to discharge treated wastewater, which include a total of 12 conditions
setting out the requirements that it must satisfy. It also holds one resource consent allowing the intermittent

Monitoring programmes are not only based on existing permit conditions, but also on the obligations of the
RMA to assess the effects of the exercise of consents. In accordance with section 35 of the RMA, the Council
undertakes compliance monitoring for consents and rules in regional plans, and maintains an overview of the

Methanex holds 11 resource consents, which include a total of 111 special conditions
Road, near Hurleyville. Water is impounded behind the 82 m high Patea Dam to form Lake
Rotorangi. This water is diverted through the 32 MW power station, the largest in Taranaki. This report for
