operates a number of wellsites
within the Taranaki region, most notably their Manutahi, Rimu and Kauri wellsites, located
between Hawera and Patea. Each wellsite contains varying numbers of producing wells and
associated production infrastructure. This report for the period July 2015 to June 2016

The 14 awards this year take the total to 279 since the Council began the
annual presentations in the 1990s.
They are all tremendous examples of the Taranaki can-do attitude and
highlight the practical environmentalism that's a strong part of the
regional culture.
July 2016 to June 2017 by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) on the
monitoring programme associated with the resource consent held by Taranaki Thoroughbred Racing (TTR).
TTR operates a race track and associated facilities on Coronation Avenue, New Plymouth. The site is located
within the Te Henui catchment. Consent 7470-1.2 authorises the abstraction of up to 500 m3/day of
groundwater from a production bore at the site, at a rate not exceeding 10 L/s.
The report includes the
Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess STDC’s
environmental performance during the period under review, and the results and the
environmental effects of STDC’s activities at the Eltham, Manaia, Hawera, Opunake,
Kaponga, Otakeho and Patea landfills.
During the monitoring period, STDC demonstrated an overall high level of
environmental performance.
In relation to its closed landfills STDC hold 10 resource consents consisting of eight
discharge of stormwater and/or leachate to
consent to discharge green waste to land for the
purposes of dune stabilisation at Albany Road, Patea in the Patea catchment.
Green waste is transported to the site and discharged over areas of sandy pasture that have undergone
aeolian erosion. The green waste helps trap soil and sand and, upon decomposition, adds nutrients and
condition to the sandy soils.
This report for the period July 2017 to June 2018 describes the monitoring programme implemented by the
Taranaki Regional Council
Company) operates a zinc galvanising plant located on Monmouth Road,
approximately 1 km north of Stratford, in the Kahouri Stream catchment. The Company utilises a hot-dip
galvanising process to provide a protective coating for steel materials. This report for the period July 2018

Council) to assess the Company’s environmental and consent compliance performance during the period

It is important to note that inspections carried out by the Council identified that many
flowmeter installations across the region are sub-standard, compromising the accuracy of the
abstraction data being recorded. Irrigators and the Council need to be confident that their
equipment will work accurately and effectively, therefore it is preferred that a reputable
contractor be hired for the installation water measuring and recording equipment.
