The Waiwhakaiho River catchment is significant for the Taranaki region. It is used for domestic, agricultural
and industrial water supply, hydroelectric power generation, recreational purposes, and waste assimilation.

consents held by Kea Oil and Gas Limited. During the period under review Kea Oil
and Gas Limited established a wellsite, drilled, and tested several wells.
This report covers the results and findings of the monitoring programme

Limited that relate to
the Taranaki
Regional Council (the Council) describing the monitoring programme associated with 17
industries within the catchment of the Mangati Stream, Bell Block.
The Mangati catchment has, in the past, been heavily utilised for the disposal of stormwater
and wastewaters from a large number of industrial sites. As a consequence of inadequate
treatment and management of discharges and minimal dilution capacity in the past, the
water quality and aquatic ecosystems of the stream were
the monitoring programme
implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council to assess the environmental performance of
consent holders in the Hongihongi and Herekawe catchments during the period under
review.
The Hongihongi Stream discharges at the western end of Ngamotu Beach, New Plymouth.
Nine resource consents, which include a total of 60 conditions, are held by seven companies
situated on Breakwater Road, Ngamotu Road and Centennial Drive. There are six consents
to discharge stormwater;

SDC holds three resource consents, which include a total of 14 special conditions setting out
