Users of the popular cross-Taranaki Connector bus service are well-advised to ensure there’ll be a seat for them – and a new online booking system makes it easy.
“After upgrading the vehicle last year, we’re going into 2019 with an improved booking system,” says Chris Clarke, Transport Services Manager with the Taranaki Regional Council, which provides the Connector service through contractor Pickering Motors.
“Visit www.trc.govt.nz/MyConnector/ and a few clicks will set you up with a seat. It’s an absolute must for those wanting to catch the first or final services of the day, or for WITT students using the Connector at any time of the day.”
The system can be used on smartphones and tablets as well as PCs. “You can make a booking on the go if your plans change at the last minute,” says Chris.
The online bookings allow the Council and Pickerings to assess expected passenger loadings and decide whether a second vehicle will be needed, he says.
“Our old online booking system catered primarily for WITT students, but the new system is simpler and more efficient for all users, not just students.” The system now caters for one-off trips as well as allowing students and others with regular travel routines to book for weeks at a time.
