Regional Air Quality Plan

Air quality in Taranaki is of a high natural standard and the Regional Air Quality Plan for Taranaki sets out policies and rules to keep it that way. The plan includes amendments arising from the Government's May 2018 Plantation Forestry regulations.

Note: Pursuant to clause 20A of the first schedule of the Resource Management Act 1991, on 9 April 2019 minor amendments to the Regional Air Quality Plan for Taranaki were made. The minor amendments were to correct references in section 4.2.3 of the Plan to the Department of Labour’s Workplace Exposure Standards 2010.

Interim Review of the Regional Air Quality Plan for Taranaki

This review, published in April 2018, concludes that the Regional Air Quality Plan for Taranaki is performing its functions well and is assisting the Council in carrying out its resource management responsibilities. No issues have so far been identified that would warrant an urgent full review. Overall, Taranaki’s clean air provides significant health and amenity benefits to the region.
