2.8 The Vector flyover pipeline inspection on the 14th September 2010 did not observe
anything of concern along the pipeline easement, so it can be assumed the leak
started approximately between 14th September and 8th October.
2.9 Immediately after the leak was discovered, three pipelines located in an easement,
close to the leak point, were depressurised and use
Maori
and the region as a whole. The next
Government must continue to make the
completion of Treaty settlements in
Taranaki a priority.
Good progress has been made on Treaty
settlements with all bar one (of eight) iwi
having now settled their Treaty claims. The
remaining iwi (Ngati Maru) are currently in
negotiations with the Crown. Claims
relating to the Mounga are under
negotiation. A reconciliation between the
Crown and Parihaka has recently been
completed (9 June 2017) and a
June 2024 by Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) on the
monitoring programme associated with resource consents held by Cheal Petroleum Ltd (the Company). The
Company operates a hydrocarbon production station on Mountain Road at Ngaere, in the Waingongoro
catchment and in the Ngāti Ruanui iwi rohe.
The report includes the results and findings of the monitoring programme implemented by the Council in
respect of the consents held by the Company that relate to abstractions and discharges of
generally accepted accounting
practice.

Legislation Amendment Act 2017 (the Act) that
became law on 18 April 2017.
2.2 Mr McLay noted to the Committee some of the changes to the Resource Management
Act 1991 (RMA), including the removal of the financial contributions provisions in five
years and the immediate introduction of provisions allowing discussions on Iwi
Participation Agreements between iwi authorities and the Council to occur, that
address iwi input to resource management. It was noted a review of iwi input to
requested, otherwise the Hapu’s counsel would submit a memorandum to
the Court requesting that the Hearing Committee’s decision stands.
On 1 August 2007, STDC wrote to iwi and the Council committing to: work on decreasing storm water
ingress to the Hawera sewerage system; testing the permeability of the detention storage pond; not exceed
the 12,000 m3/day volume of the consent; and undertaking the necessary work under the consent (condition
