Environmental effects of exercise of consents
The Tawhiti Stream, until it converges with the Tangahoe River, has been identified
as needing enhancement of its natural, ecological and amenity values, and life
supporting capacity under Appendix IB of the RFWP. The discharge from the
piggery effluent into the unnamed tributary of the Tawhiti Stream falls
Section 14 of the RMA stipulates that no person may take, use, dam or divert any
water, unless the activity is expressly authorised by resource consent or a rule in a
regional plan, or it falls within a particular category set out in Section 14.
• Consent 7470-1 was granted on 20 August 2009 under Section 87(d) of the RMA
to TTR to take and use groundwater from a bore for:
o watering of racing tracks and general purposes at the TTR Club.
