Summary
Argentine stem weevil damage to pasture results in:
 lower stocking rates
more frequent need to resow pasture
reduced cultivar suitability (some high-performing low
endophyte types are susceptible to ASW)
Animal health problems due to high endophyte include:
 lower weight gains
 lower milk production
high incidence of dags and fly-strike
Biological control with the parasitoid wasp will in time
reduce ASW numbers. The expected outcome from reduced
ASW
performance and extent of compliance by
the consent holder during the period under review, this report also assigns a rating as
to the Company’s environmental and administrative performance.

Policy 2.6:
Cumulative
effects
Discharges of contaminants to air should not occur at a rate or in
a manner that contribute to a cumulative effect which over time,
or in combination with other effects, is likely to have an adverse
effect on human health and safety, ecosystems, property or other
aspects of the environment.
In relation to the potential cumulative of the odour emissions from the site with
background odour levels, background odour could result from
me in summer months when the power
station was operating that the residual flow of 180 litres/second
was too low to maintain water quality. In the hottest months of
summer fish kills have been observed in the lower river due to
high water temperatures and low oxygen levels I suspect. I
rarely fish the lower river in summer because of this. I
personally think that the residual flow for the lower river needs
to be at least double the 180 litre/second rate and probably
closer to 400 litres per
resources.
1.1.4 Evaluation of environmental and administrative performance
Besides discussing the various details of the performance and extent of compliance by the Company, this
report also assigns them a rating for their environmental and administrative performance during the period
under review.
Environmental performance is concerned with actual or likely effects on the receiving environment from the
activities during the monitoring year. Administrative performance is concerned with the
planting thousands
of kilometres of riverbanks.
Industry and communities have
invested millions of dollars to eliminate
or significantly reduce the number and
impact of discharges to fresh water.
The Taranaki Regional Council’s
comprehensive monitoring reveals a
consistently high rate of compliance
with resource consent requirements.
The bar is constantly being raised and this
work will only continue. Farmers are on
track to have the ring plain’s rivers and
