achieving sustainable development of the region’s
resources.
1.1.4 Evaluation of environmental performance
Besides discussing the various details of the performance and extent of compliance by
the consent holder/s during the period under review, this report also assigns a rating
as to each Company’s environmental and administrative performance.
Environmental performance is concerned with actual or likely effects on the
receiving environment from the activities during the monitoring
preparation of this document.
9. Conclusion
9.1 Based upon observations that I made on a visit to the Uruti Composting
Facility, reports read, and a review of total ammoniacal nitrogen data
obtained by TRC, I conclude the following:
(a) BTW Company (2015) reports potential groundwater ingress into
the ponds. I therefore recommend that RNZ undertake
permeability assessments of the liners. Should it be identified that
a pond liner has a permeability rates greater than 1 x
divert the Waiaua River (at a maximum rate of 3,900 l/s) into a
storage lake for hydroelectric power generation.
A water permit to take water from the Opunake Lake beside the Waiaua River for
hydroelectric power generation.
A discharge permit to discharge sand and water from the intake canal into the
Waiaua River.
A coastal permit to erect, place and maintain an outlet structure from the Opunake
hydroelectric power station within the coastal marine area.
A discharge
move at 100% of water
speed (current) and approximately 3% of the wind speed. The figure on the next page
indicates how this information can be used for this purpose.
Some tidal stream and current information is contained on hydrographic charts of the area
and should be used in conjunction with tide tables for the appropriate day. Locations of
maps reflecting tidal stream directions and rates for the Taranaki bite and adjacent areas are
at the end of this Annex.
Wind speed and
few non-members came and we
anticipate these numbers will increase
now the events have been added to the
TRC calendar of garden events sent out
with the rates demands. Please
encourage friends and families to come
along on these walks.
Our next event is scheduled for Sunday
16 May, with Andrew Brooker, Pukeiti’s
Collections Officer, taking a walk
showing us weird and wonderful things
about Pukeiti’s rhododendrons. Those
attending are bound to be entertained
by Andrew as they
holders to resource management and, ultimately, through the refinement of methods
and considered responsible resource utilisation, to move closer to achieving sustainable development of the
region’s resources.

biological monitoring surveys indicated that the discharge of treated stormwater and leachate
discharges from the Colson Road landfill site had not had any significant detrimental effect on the
macroinvertebrate communities of the Puremu and Manganaha Streams, or the unnamed tributary of the
Puremu Stream.
Air quality monitoring showed that there were no significant adverse effects in relation to suspended
particulates, dust deposition rates or odour beyond the site boundary.
