Congrats New Plymouth district you’re keeping on top of the rats! Results of our urban rat tracking monitoring are now in and while there’s been a slight increase on last year, we’re happy. The goal is sustained control and we’re doing that – with numbers staying pretty stable over the past four years. A shout out New Plymouth District Council and its volunteers and all the backyard trappers doing the mahi. We also monitored in Stratford (10% rats – lots of hedgehogs!) and Inglewood (30% rats)

• Public transport (including buses and rail).
• Cycling, walking and active travel.

“maintenance of biological diversity” only appears in the RMA and only then as a function of
councils (i.e. not part of the purpose and principles). Oddly, regional councils have very limited
ability to “maintain biological diversity”, given that such a broad and ambitious goal is also
dependent of the exercise of the many functions and powers that rest with other agencies.
In addition, the regional council biodiversity role sits oddly in the RMA, given that the
respond to the questions and give us your feedback as your views are
crucial to shaping the future of active and public transport in our region.

. and its regional advocacy responsibilities whereby the Council represents the Taranaki
region on matters of regional significance or concern.

1. Introduction
The Taranaki Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP or the plan), prepared by Taranaki Regional
Council (the Council), is a strategic document that sets out the objectives and policies for public
transport in the region, and contains details of the public transport network and development
plans for the next 10 years (2020-2030).

World Biodiversity Day
We loved bringing together so many schools
and 150 tamariki to Hollards Gardens recently. The
Enviroschools team, Rotokare Scenic Reserve, Department
of Conserva�on, Towards Predator-Free Taranaki team and
Taranaki Regional Council all
