Executive summary
The Tawhiti Stream catchment, east of Hawera, is the location of several industries that include a meat
(NPDC) operates four water supply schemes in the New
Plymouth District. This report for the period July 2014 to June 2015 describes the monitoring
programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the
consent holder’s environmental performance during the period under review, and the
results and environmental effects of the consent holder’s activities.
NPDC holds 20 resource consents, relating to those water supply systems which include a
total of 142 conditions

NPDC holds a total of 48 coastal permits covering structures, which include conditions setting
out the requirements that NPDC must satisfy. NPDC holds 23

Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the environmental and consent compliance performance
of irrigation consent holders across the Taranaki region. The assessment covers resource consents held for
pasture irrigation, horticultural and golf course irrigation. This is the 16th Annual Report issued by the
Council to report on compliance monitoring programmes for consents authorising the abstraction of
freshwater for
Hurleyville. Water is impounded behind the 82m high Patea
Dam to form Lake Rotorangi. This water is diverted through the 30 MW power station, the
largest in Taranaki. This report for the period July 2011–June 2014 describes the monitoring
programme implemented by the Taranaki Regional Council (the Council) to assess the
Company’s environmental performance during the period under review, and the results and
environmental effects of the Company’s activities.

Executive summary
The Tawhiti Stream catchment, east of Hawera, is the location of several industries that

approximately 60 years and mainly provides aggregate for on farm purposes, but has also sold
