Resolved
That the Taranaki Regional Council:
a) received the minutes of the Operations and Regulatory Committee meeting of the
Taranaki Regional Council at the Taranaki Regional Council, 47 Cloten Road,
arranged holly (in all its winter glory
bedecked with berries), ivy, and in
recognition of it being the mid-winter
gathering of the Pukeiti Rhododendron
Trust, vireyas from Margaret Hodges’
lovely garden. After a glass of wine and a
time to meet and greet each other, over
50 members sat down to a pleasant three
course lunch. Over coffee we were lucky
to be able to listen to Basil Chamberlain,
the CEO of the Taranaki Regional
Council, who told us all about his
council’s role in
Taranaki Regional Council has continued its strong and prudent financial management with a $2.6m surplus for the 2021-2022 financial year. The Council maintained strong levels of service as it worked towards improving lifestyles, taking Taranaki forward and supporting livelihoods while planning for the future and ensuring it can meet the challenges that the huge raft of reforms being rolled out by central Government will bring. The Council adopted its 2021/2022 Annual Report at today’s Ordinary
organisation. The second was
the transition from IRIS Classic to IRIS Next Generation.
The transition into the Regional Sector Shared Services Organisation is now
largely complete and the IRIS Next Generation Programme is fully established.
The 2024 Statement of Intent reflects a more regular basis of operation, while
signalling future opportunities for growth in support of Te Uru Kahika.
1 Te Uru Kahika is the collective of the 16 regional councils and unitary authorities that
SER proposals;
regional advocacy responsibilities whereby the Council represents the Taranaki region on
matters of regional significance or concern; and
experience having successfully implemented water quality improvements within Taranaki.
3) The Council has also been guided by its Mission Statement ‘To work for a thriving and prosperous
Taranaki’ across all of its various functions, roles and responsibilities, in making this submission.
4) The Council notes its
off, which is proving to be an invaluable timesaver for busy farmers. For our team there’s no time to rest, with the rural roll-out soon to enter Year 3 of the 10-year programme. Next up is the coastal area from Okato around to Rahotu. So by this time next year another section of the region will be covered by predator control from the mountain to the sea!
