Watch the big decisions being made as meetings livestreamed

Taranaki Regional Council is now livestreaming all of its meetings, giving the public more opportunities to get involved in local democracy.

The public can already attend meetings but will now be able to watch decisions being made by the elected members from their home or office.

Chair Charlotte Littlewood urged members of the public to go online and find out more about the work being done around Taranaki by the Council.

“Our region is a special place and your elected members are making some big decisions as we try to continue taking Taranaki forward and making it an even better place to live and work,” says Mrs Littlewood.

“To ensure everyone is aware of all the decisions being made and improve transparency, we are now livestreaming meetings. This helps those who have always wanted to attend but haven’t been able to get time off work or have some issues with getting to and from Stratford.

“Livestreaming means it’s easy to see not only what decisions are being made but to watch presentations on key issues as well. Anyone with a smartphone, smart TV or laptop can go to YouTube and now watch the meeting live.”

Upcoming Council meetings to be livestreamed are the Operations and Regulatory Committee at 9am and the Policy and Planning Committee at 10.30am on 3 September. To find out more about the issues being discussed at the meetings, see here.(external link)
