Winter workshops at Hollard Gardens

Warm days are now a thing of the past, making way for another season of free winter workshops at Kaponga’s Hollard Gardens.

The workshops offer enthusiastic gardeners the chance to learn key tips and techniques from industry experts. Head Gardener Shannon will lead workshops on fruit tree pruning, citrus and berry pruning, and growing vegetables for winter.

“I am privileged to work in an amenity garden where I can teach the public about sustainable, organic gardening methods. Every year brings new insights and opportunities to pass on knowledge to eager learners,” Shannon says.

The winter workshops have become a staple in Taranaki Regional Council's garden events calendar. Last year's workshops reached capacity in advance, prompting the decision to remove number restrictions.

Regional Garden Manager Stuart Robertson says people love the opportunity to learn from experts.

“The workshops have been a hit since we introduced them in 2020. Our team has a wealth of knowledge and it's only right to share this with other keen gardeners.”

Hollard Gardens is located at 1686 Upper Manaia Road, Kaponga, a 45-minute drive from New Plymouth.
