concentration on a given day exceeds 260 per 100 ml, daily sampling is required until the concentration falls
below 260. Because storm events in particular can lead to a transient high count due to faecal runoff and/or
wastewater overload, it is logical to have a rating system that considers the possibility of such extreme
measures and focuses on the anticipated range of measurements when swimming is likely.

THAT the Taranaki Regional Council:
a) receives this report on participation in STRESS-3 for a further
irrigation or
municipal water supply to enable them to
comply with any consent limits. It is also
important for ensuring that water allocated
for use is done so in a way that provides for
other freshwater values, such as ecosystem
health.
Under the NPS-FM, water use is managed
by setting environmental flows and levels,
taking into account any changes that are
likely to occur as a result of climate change.
Limits can then be set on the rate and
amount of water taken, and where and

WW noted that those projects that are important (rated high priority) will get
enhanced FAR - between base FAR and 100% depending on each AO. Low
cost/low risk projects (under $1m) aren’t included.
VL noted advanced FAR – do it now (only available for this NLTP period).
SH noted that an end of life structure would more likely gain a high rating.
SB suggested safety or access related projects would be key strategies on GPS –
advanced FAR.
