on population productivity. Similarly, Armstrong et al.
(2006) found that the nesting success, fecundity, adult female survival and juvenile survival of
North Island robins in the Paengaroa Mainland Island declined as rat tracking rates increased;
although 40 robins were reintroduced to Paengaroa in 1999, none of these were found in 2010—
likely as a result of rat predation. South Island robin (Petroica australis) numbers have also been
found to be strongly correlated with rat abundance in

from the physicochemical parameters analysed during the mid-summer survey conducted in February 2019,
when a moderately high discharge rate of well-treated wastewater characterised this system. No impacts of
the effluent discharge were indicated by MCI scores through the reach of the river surveyed.
During the year, STDC demonstrated a high level of environmental and administrative performance with the
resource consents held in relation to the Manaia WWTP. The Manaia WWTP was

The abstraction of water from the Inaha Stream was not found to have any adverse effect on
the stream.
The discharge of cooling water to the Inaha Stream was not found to have any adverse effect
on the stream. There was exceedance of the limit on receiving water temperature increase on
25 days, during low flows between February and April. An abatement notice was issued to
undertake works to remedy this, before the

and that of consent holders to resource management and, ultimately, through the refinement of methods
and considered responsible resource utilisation, to move closer to achieving sustainable development of the
region’s resources.
1.1.4 Evaluation of environmental and administrative performance
Besides discussing the various details of the performance and extent of compliance by STDC, this report also
assigns them a rating for
for the continuous measurement of flow
rate and temperature.
Silver Fern Farms Ltd (meat processing plant) demonstrated an overall high level of
environmental performance.
The Company holds six resource consents, to allow it to maintain a dam in and to take from
the Tawhiti Stream; to discharge to the stream and to land; and to discharge emissions into
the air.
During the period under review, one incident was registered against the site, in relation to
flooding behind the dam
in all
large flood events.
