It
was observed that a drain had been constructed above the race up gradient of the cap
that, at the time of inspection, was directing spring water around the cap. It was
considered that the drain would also be adequate to direct stormwater from above the
site, around the cap, during rainfall.
25 June 2015
A site visit was made in fine weather to conduct a compliance monitoring inspection
and take samples. There had been very heavy rain over the weekend prior to the
inspection, and

Surface water from recent rain was discharging via three of the open trenches to the coast. Several (known)
boggy areas discharging from the north trench line were contributing to ponding that was visible from the
main highway.
The Hector Place pumping station and the emergency overflow structure were also inspected and found to
be satisfactory.

An influent flow of approximately 5 L/s was occurring at the time of the inspection, the influent screen was
Connection Day to Taranaki. Thanks to TRC for hosting us at
Pukeiti Gardens. Shame the rain kept us inside but it was still a great day of sharing. A local network is
being set up. More info to come.
