Dairying is the predominate land use in this unit, which also
includes New Plymouth and other urban areas. Waterways in
these short, steep and relatively small catchments rise and fall
rapidly in response to rainfall. The catchments are small and
subject to relatively high consumption and waste discharge
pressures, especially compared with those in the eastern
hillcountry.

The modelled estimates show that the majority of total stream reach across the Waitara, Southern Hill

accordance with permitted activities requirements.
This consent is required to manage the discharge of contaminants from the site as the stockholding area falls
within 50 m of a farm drain. The associated feedpad is going to be used throughout the winter period. This
will reduce nutrient runoff to waterways during winter as more effluent will be captured by the feedpad and
delivered to the effluent
infrastructure and other costs.
Connections to Mt Taranaki: The
North Egmont, Stratford and Dawson
Falls access roads are under pressure
and suffering from under-investment. The
Government needs to prioritise a sustainable,
long-term funding solution that also includes
the Mangorei Road and Carrington Road
routes to Egmont National Park and Pukeiti.
Western Blue Highway: A previous
investigation found a New Plymouth-
Nelson roll-on, roll-off shuttle ferry
service
and anything existing would
not fall under this Proposed Bylaw.
Recommends
That the Taranaki Regional Council:
a) receives this agenda memorandum Making River Control and Flood Protection Bylaw for
Taranaki
b) receives and adopts the attached proposed River Control and Flood Protection Bylaw for
Taranaki 2020 and supporting documentation
c) approves the commencement of the special consultative process for the making of new
bylaws in accordance with the LGA
d) notes that …
habitable building and mitigation measures such as landscaping or screening.
However, this rule is moot based on the discretionary activity rule applying to the
surrounding properties discussed above which provides for the more onerous activity
status which would take precedence.

A under the ONDP and as noted in the Officer Report fall within the Area Q Structure
Plan, where they are
types of irrigation methods; surface and pressurised. The
majority of irrigation systems currently in operation in the province fall in to the
pressurised category. Pressurised systems can be further differentiated based on the
method of operation and equipment used. A summary of the systems encountered in the
region is given below:
K-line and long-lateral types – Impact sprinklers mounted on moveable laterals
(Photo 1).
These are the most common systems found in the region, as they are a
plan, or it falls within some particular
categories set out in Section 14. Methanex currently holds two abstraction consents for the Waitara River.
Section 15(1)(a) of the RMA stipulates that no person may discharge any contaminant into water, unless the
activity is expressly allowed for by a resource consent or a rule in a regional plan, or by national regulations.
Methanex currently holds six water discharge consents.
Section 15(1)(c) of the RMA stipulates that no person may discharge
