may be used for a range of agricultural, pastoral and horticultural activities, but other types of
activities are to be managed and/or avoided to ensure the activities occurring within the zone are

poultry farming falls under the definition of rural

resource consent or a rule in a regional plan, or it falls within some particular
categories set out in Section 14.
The Company holds water abstraction permit 1226-1 to take water from the Mangahewa Stream for
process, fire-fighting and domestic purposes associated with operation of the MPS. This permit was
originally issued on 14 March 1984 under the Water and Soil Conservation Act 1967 to Petroleum
Corporation of NZ Ltd. It was transferred to Shell Todd Oil Services Ltd on 10 April 2002, to
Taranaki Regional Council Biosecurity Strategy - Post-Hearing version.
Operative and Draft District Plans will provide a
maximum capacity for between 12,400 and 21,000 new dwellings.
Slightly more than half of these dwellings are feasible to build in the
current market conditions. When the 15-20 per cent margin required
by the NPS-UDC is included, the residential capacity provided in the
Operative District Plan falls short by 3,900 dwellings. However, the
urban growth areas indicated in the Draft District Plan provides
